Day 5

The Pacific Plate has been moving northwestward towards the North American Plate. The fault is more than 800 miles long and many earthquakes occur here. This is why California has so many earthquakes because of this major fault line. It's possible that California may drift away from the United States and basically form its own land. If an earthquake happens soon it will be a magnitude of over a 5 along the fault. San Diego, Los Angeles, and Big Sur are located on the Pacific Plate. Sacramento and Sierra Nevada are located on the North American Plate. They are moving past each other at least a couple inches a year.

What type of fault is this?

Also, I've noticed a lot of grammar mistakes throughout your posts. I won't grade you down on it, but a job worth doing is worth doing right. Try to fix them if you can. :)
